Crawdads is an intriguing and heartfelt story with a side of cunning and mystery.
I recommend this read!
Owens has done a wonderful job of creating a vivid and symbolic world along with a character who deserves empathy.
Where the Crawdads Sing is a novel that revolves heavily around character development. Though the action aspects of the plot are interesting, this story focuses deeply on the life of a girl born into hardship and loneliness.
Kya, the protagonist, is forced to teach herself how to live when she is abandoned in an unruly but enchanting marshland, and though she often spends time alone, she still must face the realities of heartbreak and societal expectations.
My only quell with this book is that the character development was such a crucial focus point that the plot itself lost some of its intensity and, in the end, I was able to more or less predict the answer to the mystery. Overall, however, I was able to ignore this because I loved adventuring and growing alongside Kya. She is definitely a character to root for, and I still care about her fictional existence after having finished the book over a month ago.
